Meet Our Staff

Chris has been a Tallahassee native for over 30 years. His connections with his church life have made helping others a big part of daily living. From paying it forward to changing lives, Chris has been forward thinking, and PHPII is the perfect platform to accomplish his dream of full-time community assistance.

I grew up in the Midwest and attended Kent State University, where I was on campus during the tragic shooting of 1970 — an experience that has stayed with me throughout my life. I began my career in the parking industry, operating businesses in both the Midwest and New York City. Over the years, I expanded into publishing, founding newspapers and building both a legal publishing company and a social directory publishing business, while also acquiring and operating hotels, motels, and inns across the country.

Upon retirement, I became deeply aware of the challenges faced by senior citizens and individuals reentering society after incarceration. This awareness inspired me to dedicate my time and resources to serving the thousands of men and women in these communities who need counseling, housing, employment opportunities, and financial support.

My name is Captain Greg Pope, and I've been fishing the waters of Islamorada for as long as I can remember. I've served as a captain for over 33 years, running my own rig — a custom 40' sportfisherman — since 1998. Over the years, I've finished in the top three of nearly every tournament imaginable, taking top honors half a dozen times. I've since expanded my territory, fishing the waters of the Bahamas, Cuba, Mexico, and up and down the eastern seaboard of the United States. My boat is quick, the tower is tall, and my gear is top of the line and tournament-ready, seven days a week. I've also delivered cargo in the 200- to 300-ton range to Puerto Rico.

My name is Shannon Green, and I serve as a board member for People Helping People Initiative. As a mother of three, I understand firsthand the importance of love, safety, and support for every family. For my entire adult life, I've worked alongside children and families, always putting the needs of others first. I'm grounded in my faith and find strength and purpose through my church community, and I bring that same dedication and care to my work with the organization.

My name is Edward Wylie. Originally from Vermont, I moved to Florida with my family in 1973 as a high school freshman. I went on to earn my B.A. in Secondary Social Science Education and my M.A. in Political Science, both from the University of South Florida. I spent much of my teaching career instructing World History and International Politics and served as the sponsor of the Model U.N. Club. I was also an assistant varsity football coach, helping lead teams to two high school state championships at Vero Beach High School and Lakeland High School, and I coached varsity tennis as well. Outside the classroom, I'm a part-time musician and the bandleader of The Sunshine State Express, Florida's #1 polka band, currently at work on our third album.
